The SMARTECH group is a leading force of pioneering research in the fields of telecommunications and information technology. It belongs to the Industrial Systems Institute of the Athena Research Center and is actively involved in major European research projects, both as coordinator and partner, collaborating closely with European companies and industrial stakeholders. With a focus on building a dynamic and interactive innovation ecosystem, SMARTECH significantly contributes to the development of sixth-generation (6G) telecommunications networks. Its activities include designing pioneering architectures based on advanced artificial intelligence techniques, as well as developing experimental platforms and research infrastructures for testing emerging technologies. SMARTECH is directed by Prof. Christos Verykoukis and fostered by a strong team formed by numerous PhD students, post-doc and researcher engineers.
